SEO Autopilot takes care of routine SEO work on a schedule. Its jobs run daily or weekly, prepare fixes with your own AI key, and put every change in the approval queue. Nothing goes live until you approve it.
What Autopilot prepares
| Job | What it prepares | Needs an AI key |
|---|---|---|
| Write missing meta descriptions | A description for published, indexable posts that have no description and no excerpt. | Yes |
| Fix SEO titles that are too long or too short | A title for posts without their own title, when the automatic title is over 60 or under 25 characters. Off by default. | Yes |
| Alt text for images without alt text | Alt text written by AI (it looks at the image when your model supports it), or taken from the file name when AI isn't set up. Camera names such as DSC0001 are skipped. | No |
| Internal links | One link to a related post for posts with no internal links, orphan posts first. Suggestions that can't be applied safely are listed as link ideas on the card instead. | No |
| Audit setting fixes | The one-click setting fixes the site audit offers, such as turning on IndexNow. | No |
Each change is prepared as a proposal, the same way an AI agent's edit is when approval mode is on. See Approval mode, dry runs and undo.
Before you start
- For the AI jobs, add your AI provider key. Autopilot uses your own key, so you pay your provider directly and there are no RankFlect SEO credits.
- Scheduled runs use WP-Cron, so it must run on your site. See System requirements.
Set up Autopilot
- Go to RankFlect SEO → AI Agents and find the SEO Autopilot card.
- Under What it does, turn on the jobs you want.
- Set Max changes per run (5 to 100, 20 by default).
- To run it on its own, turn on Run on a schedule and choose How often: Every day or Once a week on a day you pick.
- Optionally turn on the email, so the site admin gets a summary after each run.
Click Run now to start a run straight away. A run works in short steps in the background, so it never times out, and the card shows its progress.
Each run stops at its limit, and Autopilot respects your Daily request limit and the Pause all AI switch in Settings → AI provider. If the daily limit is reached, the run stops and the rest waits for the next run. See AI limits and privacy.
Autopilot skips posts edited in the last hour and noindexed posts. It never queues a second change for something that is already waiting, and a change you rejected isn't suggested again for 30 days.
Review what Autopilot prepared
When changes are waiting, the bell in the RankFlect SEO header shows "Autopilot changes are waiting for your approval", and the Change Log menu item shows how many.
- Go to RankFlect SEO → Change Log and open Needs approval. Set Made by to Autopilot to see only its changes.
- Compare the before and after value of each change.
- Approve the changes you want and reject the rest. On the SEO Autopilot card, Approve all from this run and Reject all handle a whole run at once.
If someone edits the same field after Autopilot prepared a change, approving it is refused, so a newer edit is never overwritten. Reject it, and the next run prepares a fresh one.
Approved changes are live, and like every change in the Change Log they can be reverted later, one at a time or as a batch.
FAQ
Will Autopilot change my site on its own?
No. Every change it prepares waits in the approval queue until you approve it.
What does it cost?
Each AI request goes to your own provider at their prices, within the limit per run and your daily request limit. A local model costs nothing.
Can I stop it?
Yes. Turn off Run on a schedule, turn off a job, or turn on Pause all AI to stop every AI feature at once.
How is this different from connecting an AI agent?
An AI agent works when you ask it to, over MCP. Autopilot runs set jobs on a schedule inside WordPress. Both send their changes to the same approval queue.
